Stigma Films is a film & television production company, established and run by producer Matthew James Wilkinson. It launched in November 2011.

Stigma’s first production was the BFI-funded suburban thriller, SLR, for Screen Star of Tomorrow, writer/director Stephen Fingleton. The film won Best Short at the Foyle Film Festival and was nominated for an IFTA (Irish BAFTA). It was also short-listed for the Oscars in 2015.

In 2012, the company signed a 1st look deal with Pathe UK to develop high concept genre features for an international audience.

Their first feature was sci-fi actioner, THE CALL UP, which topped the UK Brit List in 2011. Altitude Film Sales are selling the film internationally, having already closed a multi-territory deal with EOne. The film premiered at the Sci-fi London Film Festival and was released in the UK in 2016. Vertical Entertainment are releasing in the US.

ERNESTINE&KIT, written and directed by actor Simon Bird (THE INBETWEENERS), was part-funded by Creative England and premiered at last year’s SXSW Film Festival in Austin. It was also nominated for an ITFA.

Their contained thriller, KALEIDOSCOPE, starring Toby Jones and Anne Reid, launched at AFM last year. Written & directed by Rupert Jones, Independent Film Company are selling.

Post production was recently completed on comedy, DOUBLE DATE, starring Michael Socha and Georgia Groome. Written by Danny Morgan and directed by Benjamin Barfoot, the film is being sold worldwide by Film Constellation.

Stigma are developing a number of other film and television projects, including the BFI-backed ghost story-horror, THE POWER, with writer/director Corinna Faith; Creative England-backed, and DAYS OF THE BAGNOLD SUMMER, for director Simon Bird.
